The Alice Gleinster Foundation memorial web site. In loving memory of Alice Glenister 1984 - 2003

INTRODUCTION

On May 10th 2003 we received the devastating news that our beloved daughter, Alice, had been killed in a kayaking accident in Laos. Alice was 18 years old and as part of her Gap Year, had spent the previous three months working at an orphanage school in Thailand, where she taught the kindergarten children. She fell in love with the children and frequently asked us if we could adopt "at least four of them".

She had just set out, with her two good friends Chloe and Katie, on what was to have been a trip to Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji when the tragedy struck. Our son Tom was in Australia at the time, having just spent some very precious time with Alice in Thailand.

After the heartbreaking loss of our beautiful young daughter and sister, Malcolm, Tom and I decided to set up the Foundation in Alice's name with the principal objective of helping under-privileged children in S.E. Asia. We know Alice would approve.
